Anker Solix Solarbank 2 E1600 Plus with Shelly 3EM Guide

Set up dynamic feed-in via smart meter in the Anker app! The Anker Solix Solarbank 2 is now even better. We have just published a step by step guide and video on our Funkyhome YouTube Channel where we connect the Anker Solix Solarbank 2 E1600 Plus Powerstation to the Shelly 3EM Smart Meter. First with the firmware version v.1.0.5.8 and then again with an Anker firmware update to the firmware v.1.0.5.16 released today and test whether the feed-in of the Anker Powerstation is now dynamically adapted to the measured power consumption. Further instructions and the Anker Solix Solarbank 2 E1600 Plus test will be published soon on Funkyhome.de!

This is what it’s all about …

The Anker Solix Solarbank 2 E1600 Plus and the Anker Solix Solarbank 2 E1600 Pro Powerstation feed a fixed power from the battery into the domestic power grid without connection to an intelligent measuring system (iMSys), i.e. a digital electricity meter with smart meter gateway. As the micro inverter is designed as a balcony power station, the maximum output in Germany is currently 800 watts. It is now possible to set the value and only feed in 100 watts at night, for example, to cover the basic load. In the Anchor app, this is called User-defined mode and can be set in 10 watt increments between 10 watts and 800 watts in the energy plan. However, at the latest when a consumer draws a little more power, not enough power is fed in from the battery and the power is drawn from the power grid. The power consumption of individual consumers such as the washing machine or dishwasher could now be measured with a so-called smart plug and then set to Intelligent plug mode in the Anker app in order to adjust the feed-in power accordingly. In this case, however, only individual consumers are recorded and not, for example, important consumers such as the stove, oven or instantaneous water heater, which are permanently connected to the household grid via 3-phase without a Schuko plug.

However, in order to monitor a dynamically adjusted feed from the power station into the home grid based on the total power consumption in the house or apartment, you need a smart meter and the connection to the power station. In our case, we use a Shelly 3EM for this purpose (see Shelly 3EM test). Although this must be installed in the distribution box or meter cupboard by an electrician, it then provides the decisive values for the entire house or apartment. These consumption values are now made available via a Shelly cloud and queried with the latest Anker app in combination with the latest Anker firmware in order to dynamically balance out the power consumption in so-called self-consumption mode. So much for the theory, which is already stable in practice with EcoFlow (we reported on this here in the EcoFlow PowerStream night-time power guide and in the Community article.
