EcoFlow Wave 2 Review

Result and general impression …

The EcoFlow Wave 2 offers a wide range of solutions for cooling and/or heating, especially in combination with the 1059 Wh additional battery or another additional battery such as the 2048 Wh EcoFlow Delta 2 Max Smart Extra Battery storage unit or power station.

The focus here is clearly on mobility, because anyone who is traveling with a camper or who wants to ensure really cool air on the terrace or in the conservatory in summer will appreciate the small size when setting up and the high performance of the Wave 2 air conditioning.

We find the EcoFlow Wave 2 rather unsuitable for a stationary solution in the office or bedroom because, unlike split-air conditioning, it does not use thin cooling pipes, but rather rather rather unwieldy supply air and exhaust air hoses to achieve optimum results in rooms.

The mobile EcoFlow Wave 2 air conditioning is a useful addition in the camper, awning or on the terrace. However, if you want to use this solution in all cooling and heating modes completely self-sufficiently and continuously via solar power, you also need a power station with a PV input and sufficiently high AC output power.

For a better overview, we have created a small EcoFlow Wave 2 pros & cons list:
+ Small size
+ Mobile use
+ High cooling capacity of 5100 BTU/h
+ High heating capacity of 6100 BTU/h
+ High efficiency
+ 1059 Wh battery can be attached directly
+ Clear, illuminated display
+ Convenient app can be used with and without the cloud
+ Automated control via app possible
+ Integrated condensate container
+ Attractive design

– Volume
– No mechanical off switch
– Relatively heavy at approx. 14.5 kg (device) + 7.8 kg (additional battery)
– Device not waterproof, only IPX4 splash-proof
– Cumbersome operation with hoses inside living spaces
– Input via solar or vehicle not sufficient for direct cooling or heating operation

The pros and cons lists for the EcoFlow Delta 2 Max Powerstation, the PowerStream inverter and the Smart Plugs are of course also very interesting and were listed in the previous EcoFlow Delta 2 Max and PowerStream test.
