Result and general impression …
As in our previous tests, the devices used here were convincing in the Shelly BLU Door/Window and Shelly H&T Gen3 test.
The Shelly ecosystem offers many different devices that can be combined in many different ways to create complex control systems. The whole thing is very easy to use via the web app as well as the app for iOS and Android.
It would be nice if the Shelly BLU Door/Window could communicate directly with a TRV thermostat, as was possible with the previous model. Perhaps this function will come with the new TRV thermostats announced for 2024 😉 The fact that the tilt angle of the tilt function or the room brightness are only transmitted when the sensor’s magnetic switch is triggered is also not ideal. This is probably due to the energy-saving function because of the small battery.
Of course, the lack of WLAN functionality in Shelly BLU devices significantly increases battery life anyway. However, you must also ensure that a Shelly Plus or Pro device is available as a Bluetooth gateway to which the Shelly BLU sensors can then connect.
We also like the Shelly H&T Gen3 very much. A small, unobtrusive display on which we can read the most important data such as time, temperature and humidity at any time. As with the previous model, the e-Ink display is also very easy to read and high-contrast. Perhaps not absolutely necessary, but a control element such as a simple button on the H&T would be nice. This would significantly expand the possibilities of use, as you could then also actively control things with it.
